An exclusive event to mark the release of Oliver James Lomax’s debut spoken word album.
‘Working Class Love Poem’ (Shadrack & Duxbury Records). These time travelling poems of love, loss and grief are set to beautifully crafted soundscapes by composer Mark Kyriakou, and were recorded in rooms in New York City, Andalucía and Mark’s Flat. The collaboration has resulted in a unique 18 track L.P. pressed on limited edition turquoise vinyl that will be available to buy at this event.
‘Oliver’s poems celebrate working class life and loves; they dance with originality and are tenderly unafraid of love and belonging.’ – Mark Thomas
To celebrate the release author Dave Haslam and poet Oliver James Lomax will be in conversation. Dave will read extracts from his acclaimed Arts Decades book My Second Home: Sylvia Plath in Paris, 1956, and Oliver will read poems from his forthcoming collection Burial of the Cameo. In addition, there will be stripped back bespoke musical and spoken word performances of tracks from the new album. The event will feature an audience Q&A and both authors will be available for book signing.
