resonance w/ John Haycock & DBH + Magpahi

  • The Portico Library 57 Mosley Street Manchester, England, M2 3HY United Kingdom (map)

£15 plus fee here. £17.50 on the door on the night.

A celestial combination of light, sound and setting from Calderdale. This unique multi-sensory event brings John Haycock (Kora, Clarinet + electronics) DBH (Fiddle, guitar) with support from Alison Cooper (voice, electronics) together to perform the piece, ‘resonance’ at the Portico Library.

Blending the practices of Pauline Oliveros’s *Deep Listening,* and local lore from the most notable buildings, these happenings use the natural reverberation of their environment and acoustic architecture to create a multi-dimensional adventure. Resonance combines sound with crystal lighting and hand-crafted cymatic projections using live feedback from the musicians to fill these spaces. Together with local folklore, legend and community stories, they curate exciting, impactful happenings.

The evening at the Portico Library will bring the live show to Manchester for the first time, and utilise the unique atmosphere of this superb space, with a short introduction to the library to create a memorable night of music and refracted projections.
