Join us online as we read and discuss Anne Brontë's classic but overlooked novel volume by volume.
Anne Brontë's novel The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1849) was not republished until later in the 19thC, though the first two volumes sold out. The themes of marriage, violence, working women and theimpact of marital abuse on children were hard hitting.
Creative Producer Dr Debbie Challis will lead this book club as part of her Arts Council funded project Artist in the House and has chosen this novel as the principal character in both is a female working (i.e. professional) artist who has to make compromises due to their domestic situation.
Please note, the book contains scenes of sexual violence and threat.
We will read and discuss Volume I in this first session, then Volume II on 6 November and Volume III on 27 November.
