This magnificent Map of the Central Alps includes colourful references of geologic periods of the earth showring different types of rocks and minerals. The author, John Ball, was a well-travelled writer, a naturalist, and the first president of the Alpine Club. In 1857 he was the first of the few to climbed a major Dolomites peak in Italy.
